Docobo Summer User Group blog.
We had a fantastic day at the Docobo Summer User Group in Birmingham and online on Tuesday 27th June. At our last Docobo User Group (DUG) back in November 2022, our clients had fed back that they wanted to hear about all the great use cases across the group, and to meet more regularly, so we were glad to make this happen!
We started the day with a welcome from our Chairperson Peter Almond, from Mersey Care who introduced the DUG as: ‘a great opportunity to take a whole day out to come and meet and to share benefits and to learn.’ Peter described the Docobo User Group as being all about learning from other people who are innovating in remote monitoring and virtual wards – and sharing best practice – so everyone can to go out and adapt and innovate. ‘The idea is that through sharing and mutual support we will be able to share our experiences and find people in the room and support each other’. Peter also talked about how the Docobo User Group was a good place to start if embarking on a new clinical pathway as there was so much knowledge and expertise in the room.
Peter then talked about how the team at Docobo has set up a Benefits Portal to help Docobo users to access information. Access to the portal will enable those who are interested in rolling out virtual wards or care homes etc a place to read and find out more about how to how to deploy and implement. ‘A friendly place where you can find information which will help you with your journey clinical pathway.’
After this fantastic introduction, our MD, Adrian Flowerday then talked through all of the exciting new Docobo updates which are improving the lives of users and patients.
We were then joined by the first of our presenters, Anna Fishta, project lead at Frimley ICB, who talked us through the amazing project going on there and the fantastic results. Anna explained how they had started to identify and monitor the most complex patients. Starting using proactive tools in the pandemic, Anna talked us through how they were now supporting over 2,000 complex patients with great results. Anna talked about how she had been really blown away by the results.
Rob Angus, Consultant Respiratory Physician at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust then talked about the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) telehealth project, and how the team are using remote monitoring around ventilation. By asking people using the system to answer weekly questions and linking to a call centre, they plan to do an evaluation in 6 months. The team have links with Mersey Care and the Neurological Institute, as well as access to a neurological nurse. People are already seeing the benefit of this project.
David Rose, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at Blackpool Hospital then talked us through using the remote monitoring technology solution to deliver one of the country’s first digitally enabled cardiac surgical waiting lists. Blackpool Teaching Hospitals work with teams at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, FCMS and Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board to monitor people with complex cardiac conditions, supplementary to clinical care, which is improving health outcomes while people wait for cardiac surgery.
After thanking the speakers, the attendees spent time sharing benefits across the Docobo client base – from enhanced care in care homes to fantastic outcomes in people with long term conditions.
We had such a useful and inspiring day at the Summer Docobo User Group and would like to thank all our wonderful clients and colleagues for sharing their best practice of remote monitoring and virtual care.
