Meet the Docobo Team: Sophie, Product Manager
In this series, we will be meeting some of the Docobo team members and finding out more about their role.
Meet Sophie, she is our DOC@HOME Product Manager at our Bookham office. Sophie joined our Docobo team in March 2013.
Hi Sophie, can you tell us about your role at Docobo?
I am Product Manager for everything DOC@HOME, including all the apps, both the nurse side and the patient side. I manage the design process and my job is running development, and scheduling what we are doing next and making next. I’ll discuss roadmaps with the management team and work between all teams, co-ordinating all the inner workings of the product and making sure we are filling in all the documentation!
What do you typically do in a day in your role?
I start the day with a ‘stand up’ with the developers – after that, everything goes crazy! I’ll be in meetings, putting design documents together and ensuring my number 1 priority : that our developers can carry on working with no blockers. There’s lots of prioritisation and scheduling – it can be quite hectic, but I love it!
What do you particularly enjoy about your role?
It’s crazy – and I love that! I like to be busy and problem solving, so to be involved in so many different things is great.
What do you find rewarding / impressive / interesting about the Docobo technology?
Our technology can do so much and is so configurable – the inner workings of it are huge and that’s why I like working with the products. People have so many ideas and DOC@HOME does so much. Some of our clients have only just scratched the surface of its capabilities – it’s huge, what we can do!
You left Docobo between 2019 and 2021 – why did you come back?
While I was away, I really missed Docobo and wanted to be stuck in with the product again. I really missed the team spirit that Docobo has – everyone mucks in and you’re encouraged to run with ideas. I love Docobo – it’s one big family and they kind of raised me – it’s really close to my heart.
Are your colleagues at Docobo supportive?
Everyone at Docobo is really supportive – people are really hard working and willing to help … we put each other first.
What did you do before you joined Docobo?
Docobo was my first job out of university, where I did a law degree.
Has joining Docobo enhanced your career progression?
During my time at Docobo my love of the product kept growing! I learned which career I wanted to follow here: product management. I started in Support and became the product expert, which led me to looking at its design and that’s how I eventually got into product management.
