COVID-19

We’ve been supporting our clients and patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping them to provide patient monitoring to support care for elderly, unwell and frail patients and those with long term conditions.

We have been working closely with the NHS to deliver requirements for COVID-19, collaborating to support COVID Oximetry at Home and COVID Virtual Wards, which have acted as a catalyst, encouraging a more widespread adoption of digital health technology.

DOC@HOME® is our patient monitoring solution which has been rolled out to ever more NHS clients, patients and care homes across the country. It enables clinicians to monitor patients’ vital signs and symptoms, whether related to long-term conditions or symptoms of COVID-19.

In Wave 1 of the pandemic, we helped clients like Mersey Care and Liverpool CCG rapidly enhance their patient monitoring effort to over 5,000 people to help protect those shielding and at high risk. During that time, Mersey Care increased their nurse-to-patient ratio to over 1 to 400. We’ve also implemented our solutions in more care homes.

In Bexley, for example, we have seen a 60% reduction in GP visits to care homes, and 35% reduction in accident and emergency (A&E) attendances. Here we created a COVID-19 symptom check Question Package within DOC@HOME, enabling patients to submit relevant information for monitoring. The observations are sent to the GP or triage nurse allowing the GP to call the patient if required and reduce face-to-face contact.

The COVID-19 Question Package was implemented in Liverpool, where it enabled supported discharge for COVID-19 patients from Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, meaning beds were released where possible.

Our solution is also used to enable clinicians to make COVID-19 virtual ward rounds and to support the national COVID Oximetry at Home deployment. This supports patients to monitor their oxygen levels with pulse oximeters and other devices when clinicians judge the need.

As experts in patient monitoring and population health management since 2001, we are ideally suited to adapt our solutions to suit our clients’ requirements, now and beyond the pandemic.
